Communikare’s Neuro Developmental Therapy - NDT

Neuro-Development Treatment (NDT) is utilised to treat children with Development delay,
Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Muscle weakness, Balance problems, and Abnormal
muscle tone. Dystonia, Hypertonia, Low Muscle Tone, Variable Muscle Tone, etc.


If a child is unable to achieve motor milestones according to his age and falls behind, for
example, if a child is unable to control his head by 5 months of age, is unable to roll over or
sit by 6 to 8 months, and has a delay in standing and walking, a complete assessment is
conducted to determine the factors affecting the child’s development, and a comprehensive
treatment plan is developed to assist the child in achieving his/her milestones.


Reevaluation and goal setting are performed periodically to assess a child’s progress. We feel
that the active participation of the child is more crucial for the development of functional
abilities, and that children learn better when they are having fun.
Sessions of therapy assist youngsters grow independent by teaching them to sit and walk
independently.


Depending on the child’s strength and weakness, mobility aids such as canes, tripods,
crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, etc. are taught.
Neuro-Developmental Therapeutic employs a novel and “hands-on” treatment methodology.
This method is primarily applied to children with Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, Traumatic Brain
Injury, Down Syndrome, and other neuro-motor problems.


Individuals with movement and muscular control difficulties are treated with NDT.
Typically referred to as neuro-motor or neuromuscular dysfunction, these motor control
disorders can severely disrupt bodily movement, muscle control, muscle coordination,
posture, and balance.
